hello again, and welcome (back?)!
This newsletter is about UFOs now.
Hello!
It’s been 3+ years since I last wrote you here, and much has changed since then! I promise I will understand if, upon receiving this update, you are like, “I’m still subscribed to this…?” and leave. I don’t monitor my unsubscribers. I’m not sure why Substack even has that feature; it’s very desperate.
Going forward, this newsletter is going to be about UFO stuff, not shopping. I realize this is a substantial shift, although probably not surprising if you have paid attention to anything I have ever blogged about online. My new novel-in-progress is about UFOs (though it is also about celebrities, the celebrity gossip industry, and journalism), which means I’m thinking about them a lot (even more than usual), and I want to share some of that here.
UFOs are also top-of-mind because the U.S. military just shot (!) three of them (!!) out of the sky (!!!) and apparently (allegedly) stopped looking for the wreckage. (???) (I really enjoyed this article about the [allegedly] aborted search.)
Like many in my community (haha), I have mixed feelings about the sudden prominence of UFOs in mainstream media. It ruins the fun, a little bit. I agree with John Greenewald, the “paranormal investigator and Freedom of Information Act superuser,” quoted above: “Now it’s all about balloons and spy craft. And I worry you’ll see waning interest not only from the American public but from Congress. It’s a shame.”
It is a shame!
I don’t care about spy balloons and I don’t care for the Project Blue Beam conspiracy, which claims this is all a distraction from a secret, joint NASA/United Nations project to spread a new world religion. That is not a fun conspiracy to me. A fun conspiracy to me is that the Montauk Monster was a government experiment gone wrong. Also, what is this large metal ball that washed up on a beach in Japan???????? It looks sad.
In this newsletter, I will keep you up-to-date on all the most interesting UFO and cryptid news, and perhaps provide occasional updates on the semi-related book I’m writing. If there’s particular sighting you have questions about, or you have a photo of Bigfoot you don’t know what to do with, I welcome your inquiries and tips.
On March 4, I am going to AlienCon in Pasadena, so you can expect a dispatch soon after, if not before.
Until then,
Katie
